Ben Watkins, zvijezda showa ‘MasterChef Junior’, preminuo je u ponedjeljak u dječjoj bolnici Lurie u Chicagu, piše Deadline. Bilo mu je svega 14 godina, a nesretnu vijest javila je njegova obitelj.
– Naš Ben otišao je u ponedjeljak popodne kako bi bio sa svojom pokojnom majkom, nakon borbe s rakom dugom godinu i pola – rekli su njegovi baka Donna Edwards i ujak Anthony Edwards.
Benu je dijagnosticiran angiomatoidni fibrozni histiocitom, odnosno maligni tumor mekog tkiva. Obitelj je stranim medijima rekla da svega pet ljudi, pored Bena, ima tu rijetku bolest.
Ben je prije tri godine ostao bez oba roditelja.
– Nakon što je ostao bez oba roditelja u rujnu 2017. godine, divili smo se Benovoj snazi, hrabrosti i ljubavi prema životu. Nikad se nije žalio. Ben je bio i bit će najjača osoba koju poznajemo. Kad smo njegovu rijetku bolest podijelili sa svijetom, obradovala ga je ljubav koju je primio iz cijelog svijeta, a naročito iz svog rodnog grada Garyja u Indiani – kažu baka i ujak.
Od Bena se javno oprostio i slavni chef Gordon Ramsay (54).
– Danas smo izgubili šefa u MasterChef Junioru. Bene, bio si nevjerojatno talentiran amaterski kuhar i još snažniji mladić. Tvoj mladi život doživio je puno teških preokreta, no uvijek si ustrajao. Šaljem svoju ljubav tvojoj obitelji u ovim teškim trenucima – napisao je Ramsay.
Inače, Ben je imao težak život. Te 2017. godine Benov otac Mike ubio je njegovu majku Leilu. Za to vrijeme Ben je bio u šestoj sezoni Masterchef Juniora, koja se emitirala godinu poslije. Gledatelji su donirali 190.000 kuna u kampanji #Love4Ben. Obitelj je na platformi GoFundMe aktivirala kampanju nakon što je Ben obolio, kako bi skupili novac da pokriju troškove njegova liječenja.
