Bullsi su od 1991. do 1998. godine osvojili šest prstenova, a oni su se sad pojavili na aukciji. Početna cijena za svaki je 5000 dolara, a na aukciju ih je stavila obitelj pokojnog zaštitara koji je radio za Bullse…
Svijet ni prije, ni poslije nije vidio čudo kakvo je bio – Michael Jordan (57). Najveći ikad. Brojnih diskusija na tu temu bilo je i bit će ih uvijek, kao i u svakom sportu. Jordan ili LeBron, Maradona ili Pele, Balić ili Karabatić. Sve te usporedbe su nerješive, svatko ima svoje mišljenje, ali mnogi će se složiti da je Jordan ipak najveći košarkaš koji je hodao zemljom, a za neke i najveći sportaš u povijesti.
Jer ono što je on napravio… To ne može bilo tko. Od 1991. do 1993. je svoje Bullse odveo do tri uzastopne titule pa se povukao iz košarke. Popularnost je odnio u bejzbol koji mu je bio velika ljubav, a onda 1995. u ožujku oduševio sve s kratkom porukom: I’m back! I počeo je pisati novu povijest zajedno s Pippenom, Rodmanom i Tonijem Kukočem. Od ’96 do ’98 Chicago je opet pokorio NBA ligu s tri uzastopne titule. I opet se umirovio.
Ta momčad je po mnogima najboljima u povijesti, a osim iznimnih košarkaških sposobnosti, krasile su je mnoge stvari. ‘Ludi’ Jordan koji je suigrače gurao do te razine da ih je nekad i psihički maltretirao, od Rodmana koji je bio poseban sam po sebi pa do Kukoča koji je morao proći sve i svašta na treninzima kako bi postao važan dio momčadi. I upravo zbog toga su najbolji u povijesti, a te titule su i jedine koje su Bullsi osvojili.
Upravo ti prstenovi, točnije šest komada, pojavili su se na aukciji kuće Huggins and Scott auctions, a početna ponuda za svaki prsten je 5000 dolara. Cijena bi bila i veća da se radi o prstenovima koji pripadaju nekome od igrača, no njih je posjedovao pokojni zaštitar John Capps koji je od 1996. do 2018. godine igrao za Chicago Bullse. Prvo je radio kao dio policijske pratnje, a onda je ubrzo prekomandiran u čuvara svlačionice.
Moglo ga se vidjeti i u Posljednjem plesu, a među igračima je imao prijateljski status. Štoviše, s Jordanom se kladio uoči svake utakmice na ishod igara za publiku, od Cappsa je dobio više od 4000 dolara. Razlog? Svaki put je pobjeđivao jer je unaprijed znao rezultate…
